Regional Economic Business Assistance
Deal-closing incentive when Georgia is competing with another state.
Administered by State of Georgia via DCA
What it funds
- Fixed-asset needs of a company, including infrastructure, real estate acquisition and construction.
- Machinery and equipment.
- Regional projects such as industrial parks, shared facilities, studies and specialised training programs.
REBA is not meant to be used where another state or federal program would work, or where local funds are sufficient.
Who can apply
- A local development authority must be the applicant. A city or county cannot apply for REBA on its own behalf.
- The application must be supported by a recommendation letter from a state agency, typically the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
- REBA funds are generally targeted at projects in non-rural counties.
What you'll need to match
- REBA is discretionary and negotiated around the specific project.
- Award amounts vary according to the recommendation made by the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
Grant funds may be subject to recapture if project assets are transferred to another entity or if grant conditions are violated.
How it works
- REBA is a state discretionary grant. It is not a program a local government can apply for on its own initiative.
- It is triggered by a live competitive project rather than an application window, and begins with the state rather than with you.
- The path runs through the GDEcD regional representative for the area where the company would locate.
Is this you?
A company is weighing your community against a site in another state or country, and a fixed-asset contribution would close the deal.
